Keramik Pottery Experience

Spread the love

A must visit for all art lovers and to take a piece of crafted pottery home with you is a visit to Keramik Saint Lucia. Based in the beautiful Chosieul area in the south, the Keramik Pottery Studio and Experience is run by the engaging and delightful Amanda.

As a food blogger on a small island I have a limited amount of “food props” and needed a few plates so getting some hand made was a great option for me. And I must add that they are still going strong. They have been man handled, in many dish washer cycles and survived 2 house moves and still look as good as when I first received them!

Keramik Pottery is run by Amanda who offers an engaging and hands-on pottery experience that immerses participants in the art of ceramics. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, Amanda guides you through every step of the process, from shaping your piece on the wheel to perfecting the finishing touches. Her workshops are designed to spark creativity while teaching essential pottery techniques, ensuring you leave with a deeper appreciation for this timeless craft. With her expert instruction and supportive environment, Amanda provides a memorable and educational experience that allows you to create your very own unique ceramic pieces.

Amanda has a fascinating background with a rich career history as an international management consultant, trainer, published author, BBC scriptwriter, and German teacher. Amanda decided to embrace her growing passion for pottery—a love sparked during her time in Vietnam and packed up her life, her home and her beloved corgi to relocate to the idyllic countryside in Choiseul in Saint Lucia, a region celebrated for its deep-rooted arts and crafts heritage.

You can opt to have something made for you and this can be sent on once it has finished as the process can take time to dry and glaze. Or have a look through the vast range of items ready to be purchased as there is always something tempting which my kitchen cupboards can testify to!

I have purchased the ball of clay experience a few times which is a fun option with you handing yourself over to Amanda’s expertise for her to fashion something magical on her pottery wheel out of a ball of clay. You receive amusing “cupdates” videos afterwards to take you through the process of your chosen product.

As a great bonus, Amanda will happily take your on a little tour of her luscious garden that seems to grow every type of fruit in Saint Lucia! I was very jealous of her wall of pineapples as mine have still yet to produce any fruit.

A pineapple grows on a plant outdoors, crowned by long, spiky green leaves, resembling the intricate designs of keramik pottery.

Amanda has over 30k followers on Clapper and her activities with KeramikSLU are featured to hundreds of subscribers on The Potscast. You can follow Amanda on Instagram @keramikSLU and join her Caribbean Pottery group on
